I agree I got a full 10g set up for free! u can get a 5 gallon at petsmart for like $10 with a canopy, u can also ask for some of their water to help cycle the tank or some gravel.

Bacteria do not colonize the water column.It has to be the gravel or filter media and make sure they are free from pathogens that may kill your fish if you do plan to add any fish in there at all.
got a 15 gal (they thought it was a 10) with filter, heater, aerator for 25 bucks! HAHA. anyway, I also got a peppered loach (I think) and a neon tetra and a buenos aires tera that I added to my 75 gallon.

Do you have pics of this 'peppered loach'? Are you sure it is not the peppered corydoras (Corydoras paleatus)??

That is a great upgrade! Still keep an eye on those parameters with the snails during this time of establishing the tank. The larger volume and dilution will really help you out! I am glad you were able to upgrade and your snails are too!
