Anyone help me with a safe effective mosquito repellent to use indoors and outdoors which wont affect my tanks? I am having problems since a small lake was constructed nearby. Tiger mozzies by day and regular mozzies in the evening.Thanks. btw I already did a midnight raid last month and put 50 mosquito fish in the lake, but with scarse results..

I wore one of those blue- fan thingys you clip on your belt and forgot to turn it off about a week and a half ago. Came inside and was standing next to my air pump talking for a good 10 minutes before I realised I had left the fan on.

Did a pwc (didn't know if needed) and no one was hurt or harmed- but it made me panic for a moment. I'm sure repellents are not a good idea around the tank in general- but I wonder if citronella might be acceptable.

And I like TURTLES!

(since we are making completely random statements in this thread)

It wasn't random... it has mosquito repellant in there... duh! You've been staring at those lights for too long Ace.

LOL... yes, it was a mosquito repellent fan I wore so not quite so random...

... but I do also love turtles! ;)

I would imagine you would have needed to stand there for atleast a few hours before there would be enough saturation in the air for gas exchange to occur and have any effect on the water.

I thought so too- but wanted to be safe!

Important piece of info to leave out.. I have several "blue fans" and the only thing in them is AA batteries.. never even heard of one that had repellant in them.. then again, I don't live in muggy mosquito infested areas either.. I live in the land of the "nuts and flakes". ;)

You need to get one of those bug zapper thingys. They not only work well, they are really entertaining. Oh, and put more fish in the lake. :)
