Salt - How do you know?

Okay, got it, we will stop adding salt. Nobody has addressed the testing issue. I stress this because I feel that data are good. For example, just because you do frequent water changes, it is not a good practice to assume that ammonia, nitrite, or nitrate levels are fine.
Our tap water probably has some salt, but is public water, not well water and probably not too hard, but that doesn't mean too much or give me a baseline. Are the GH and KH tests sufficient?

The liquid test kit by API is most all you will need. Once your tank is well established and you see what your nitates do weekly from your feeding habits and steady bio load, you may not test at all except once in a great while. I keep a ammonia/nitrite/nitrate/pH/GH/KH and phosphate kit around..rarely use them, but when you suspect an issue, its great to have them.
