Salt Mix Problem?

I'm setting up a new 75G tank, and over the weekend was mixing about a 100G of salt water...75G plus 29G sump...in 20 gallon batches. Maybe the RODI water I was mixing with the salt was too cold, but it seemed to mix well in the bin...I am using Seachem Reef Salt. Anyway, the tank has cleared significantly since yesterday, but is still hazy. There was a white "dust" over the inside of the glass and on the powerheads that I brushed off with an algae brush. I'm pretty sure it wasn't sand dust, as I rinsed the Aragonite very well before going into the tank. The water temp, when it was going into the tank, was about 66*, and now, since it's going through the heaters in the sump, is 76.3* Does it sound like I just didn't get the salt mixed well? When it warms up further do you think it will clear? Any other thoughts? Thanks.

when i set up my tank i, too, used aragonite and had a haze problem. my tank took about a week to clear up. i actually filled up the tank, thought i'd done somethig wrong, drained it, then rinsed the aragonite and filled it up again. guess what...it was still hazy. all that work for nothing. your tank might clear a little faster if you run carbon on the tank until it's clear. i wouldn't be too concerned about it, as it will slowly clear. i highly doubt it's the salt that's causing the haze. like i said, even after very thoroughly rinsing my aragonite, it was still very hazy. checking the SG is never a bad idea just to be sure.

You're probably right, maybe it is the Aragonite. My SG is 1.024 as measured by my refractometer, so at least that looks ok for now.

You CAN have a precipitate form if the temps low. Have some flow and get the temp up. See what happens.

And try to have the water warm BEFORE you add the salt.
