Is it right to replace the salt level after every water change? I figured it would be good to reduce the stress of the fish. I followed the directions closely, for reducing fish stress and not disease control.

I would only use salt for treating diseases like ich with salt.

Unless it is a brackish aquarium, salt is not needed.

These two articles should clear up any questions or arguments. Salt really shouldn't be added except as mentioned to treat something specific. And then It should only be used short term.

So that includes the "aquarium salt" that the lfses try to peddle as a needed item for every water change?

Absolutely! "Aquarium salt" is nothing more than designer table salt. You pay a lot more and get, well, pretty much the same thing.
