Saltwater Clarity

This question may show me as a novice in the saltwater world, but with all the critters (feather dusters etc.)using the particulate floating around (phytoplankton etc) as their food source does it make sense to make the water as clear as possible? In my old freshwater days clear was the goal and I would still like it clear in the saltwater tank but if I use a good canister filter in addition to my wet/dry, skimmer etc will I be removing the good food stuff too? Would a Rena xp2/xp3 or an equal sized eheim filter that well?

i think that the filter will get it eventually, but i think that the critters will have time to grab some of the food, because pretty much all tanks have filters now and people still keep featherdusters and other filterfeeders.

if you don't see it, it doesn't mean its not there try to find a picture of a tank that injects ozone, it will look like the fish are floating.

My water is pretty nutrient rich (especially judging from the speed at which green dust algae builds up on the glass); the tank is fed phyto and rotifers, the fish/inverts are generously fed, and the water is crystal clear - SW tanks just appear clearer to me then FW, even if the water is full of life. I wouldn't worry about trying to keep the water clear, IME it seems to happen on its own.
