i got a salvini and i love it, but its to young to tell male or female, they both look great but how big am i looking at one in a 55 gal. i just want to know how big the male and females will get. thank you

Both sexes get to a similar size of at least half a foot. They develop more color as they grow, with females havin the most color.

Salvinis can get very aggressive even when not spawning, id keep an eye on him it depends on the individual fish but u may have a killer. jewel s also like to be the boss so there may be fire works with those two. Jewel chiclids are normally kept on there own.
I agree. Salvinis can be quite nasty little cichilds. I had a female that would take on a Trimac twice her size. The only fish she wouldn't mess with my huge male JD.
