Sand and MTS

Well I thanks to the help of everyone here (I really love this place, I have got so many questions answered here... everyone is always very helpful)
Anyway I've come to the conclusion that i'll get some MTS for to seep my sand clean, but i assume I should still poke at in manually even with the snails... should I still do it every well or can I wait a bit longer... and about how many snails is good for a 30gal tank, with about 3sqr feet of sand to clean.
 
Poke the sand everytime you do your water changes.:) As for the number of snails, with MTS, there is no absolute number as these are very prolific livebearers.
 
lol... oh my. :eek3: So I'm guessing it is possible for them to over populate my tank... even more then it already is?

Overfeeding is often the cause of overpopulation. With abundance of food supply comes population explosion. MTS are a PITA to eliminate especially as they have very hard shells, very few predators and burrowers allowing them to escape possible predation. Get rid as many as you can see once you see them producing quickly. They're not really an issue except their big number can be unsightly.
 
Would a Blue Lobster(crayfish) eat the snails? Just wondering, was thinking about getting one for the smaller tank...

Maybe a few but not to keep up with the breeding. Like everybody else suggest, when you see babies everywhere try to pick out as many as possible of adult and baby size. You can even list them here in the classifieds. Usually someone will take them.
