Hello,
As the subject sugguests I am trying to make scheme to filter out sand from the source water for my pond. I am using the pond for irrigation as well as a pond but the riverwater that feeds the pond is silty and has lots of sand and dirt especially in the spring. I dont want to use a bunch of filter pads because of the matinence behind that but was thinking of perhaps a fish ladder sort of thing.
Basically the water comes in a concrete tube that is about six feet tall and probably a foot or two in diameter.
The water would flow from the middle and overflow near the top of the tube. It would then flow down into the next tube come from the middle and overflow to the next tube. I was thinking if the water movement was slow enough then alot of the sand would settle to the bottom of the tube and cleaner water then could go through a series of mechanical filters to get the rest of the silt out.
Is this idea totally silly? anyone have any better ideas? Sugguestions ect???
thanks,
tren
