I just got some african dwarf frogs and am setting up a tank with a few of them and possibly some goldfish and was wondering, what is the big difference between having sand or gravel in the tank? Is one better for the frogs? How would you clean the sand? I have never had sand before and think it might be neat, but am not sure if it would be good in this case

if you're going to have goldfish, don't go with sand. You'll never get your water crystal clear as they constantly pick and dig in it and because of this, you'll kill your filter.
Another note, I wouldn't keep the frogs and the goldies together as eventually the fish will be large enough to eat the frogs in one swoop. Plus, I'm not sure if their water needs are different as far as temp.

Mainly if you have frogs you can keep them with beta's and other tropical fish, the frogs seem to do better in warmer waters anyways. I have read some other posts that say the frogs they keep were eating and more active when the water was in the low 80's.
Needless to say, if you have african clawed, or african dwarf frogs they are from warm countrys and therefore need warmer waters.

Goldfish prefer cooler water temperatures than frogs. Also goldfish get very big and require a large tank with a good filtration system. When I had my goldfish I went through four different tank sizes and found that it was best not to keep decorations in the tank and to use gravel because they keep picking up the substrate with their mouths looking for food. If you go with sand your tank water will probably almost always be cloudy.
Frogs seem to like water temperatures that tropical fish like. If you would like to choose a frog you would do better looking at tropical fish. Most people keep frogs with betas it seems like.

you might get away with 1 goldfish in there but I wouldn't do it. 15 is a bit tight for such a high waste-producer and goldfish get very big, depending on the type of goldie, 15 might even be no place for it. With the 15, I would say go with the frogs and smaller fish.
