Sand substrate for Peacock eel

Alright. My dad recently got a peacock eel for his 55G. After some reading (on the forums and websites) i found out that the eel likes sand to burrow into.

So what my dad wants to do is take a corner or part of the side of the tank, clear the rock substrate out of that area and put sand there for him.

Is there anyway to put sand in there without emptying the tank? What sand should we get?

Me and my dad would like to get this done today if possible.
 
yeah you can do that if youd like
the easiest way to do that would be to make a partition because evuntually all the sand will just wash under the rocks

so scrape the rocks aside place a plastic partition down and then to avoid clouding the water place the sand in a container with a lid that you can drill holes in so the water can drain into the sand slowly or place water in the sand previous to adding it in the tank
make sure to lower it in very slowly and place it in the corner of choice.
voila sand and place something over the sand to attract the eel to it a cave rock cave something of that nature.

Well, what would be the best sand to get?
 
I've read many threads here about sand types, the most popular seems to be pool filter sand. Many hardware stores carry it but if you have a pool supply store, better to save gas/time to just go there, it's usualy pretty cheap, different colors etc.

Some people use sandbox sand, but some say it looks "muddy" when wet,so up to you. It also requires more thorough rinsing.

Up to you, personally when I get my 90gal next week I'm going with pool filter sand.
