Sand...type?

Most any sand will work (so long as its quartz/silica), its mostly up to you. The only thing I recommend is if you have bottom dwellers to get the least angular sand. If not, then just get whatever color you want if you have a choice.

hmmmmm...don't like the sound of that. I do plan on bottom dwellers...either black kuhli's or dojos. are my two choices here bad?
 
When I set up my african tank, I took about 3/4 pool sand and 1/4 Tahitian Black Sand...and it looks **** good. It has got a salt and pepper look to it that goes with just about any rock and helps illuminate the fish colors.
 
Mystic white is a heavier sand. I have a sample next to me. If youd like I can take a close up pick of it wet and dry.

that would be nice...might give some sort of idear.
