vacuum

hover the vac an inch or so ABOVE the sand- watch as all debris swirls gleefully away! :dance

I really like the look, once my 29 gallon in finished cycling completely (its been up since late august, so maybe next week? )I want to add a layer of sand to that tank as well. Its not to much of a pain and the results are really pleasing!

I like sand as well. In my 29gal I didn't go the play sand route, but I probably will in my next tank. Instead I used Onyx sand, comes highly recommended for plants, but also is very expensive. My next tank will have play sand with some plant type substrate additive. (flourite? laterite? I forget which one is the high iron stuff... my next tank is not going to be soon anyway. :sad )

As for cloudiness, I had some for a day or so after I changed the substrate. (started out with gravel.) I removed all the gravel, because I didn't want the sand sifting down to the bottom of the gravel and exposing it.
