i really do thank everyone for being so patient with me as i ask all these questions that seem to come up after every post lol. if you are dosing with DT's and are turning everything off for the feed time do you really have anything to worry about. i have seen some of the most beautiful tanks run a full time UV that is why i ask

Lets back up for a moment, why are you wanting the UV Sterilizer? To avoid ich? If so just use proper QT, every marine owner should have a QT in my opinion.
not to avoid it but to cure my current situation, as well as prevent it from coming back. i have also read that it can be benificial to the system in removing bacteria and with an ozone system it can really be benificial in promoting healthy coral growth. and so i figured that it could serve a double whammy
I have seen some amazing reef tanks, and none use a UV sterilizer 24/7. Not even the ones that trade corals with Steve Tyree himself.
