has anyone had any experience with this fish in planted tanks?

i have a pair i'd like to move into my planted 55g but they are "earth eaters" and like to chew on the gravel in the 29g they're in now.

although aquahobbie's profile for them mentions keeping them with plants.

these are very beautiful fish i'd like to see them in the planted 55g but i dont want to end up regretting it, or end up whipping a net around the tank ripping through plants to get them out.

I think you should be alright to put them in a planted plant... they don't seem to really disturb things very much. I have 2 pair of the Geophagus Hondae in my 55 gallon tanks and they act very similiar to the Jurupari. The thing I have noticed is that even tho they sift thru the gravel mouthfuls at a time, they do it all over and are constantly moving, so they don't make any holes. They also don't seem interested in going after any live plants at all.

Good luck,
Bill C.
