Saulosi Mbuna for 29g?

Dont' go for the Ps. lombardoi,way too aggresive. I can't believe the guy suggested this as a replacement for saulosi,totally differnt temperment.

I would wait untill they get more saulosi and go early on so you have more fish to pick your from.

Tank smaller than I thought

Well I just got back from my parents house and the tank is actually a 23 gallon tank. 30"long x 12"deep x 15" tall. I'll probably just try to find another tank from the classifieds for africans, or make it a Blue Ram or Krib tank.

Yes a 23g is too small for mbuna, but it would be a great tank for a group of shellies.

Or you could go the krib or ram route, but it really depends on your water.

I really like my little krib set-up that I have going in a 20 gallon long tank (same footprint as your tank). I have a breeding pair of kribs, an African butterly fish, a rubber lip pleco, and a trio of Congo tetras. I do wish I had a bigger tank to add about 3 more Congos, but that's the only thing wrong with the tank.

Another option as opposed to plain rams would be Bolivian rams - a tad bigger, nearly as peaceful, and just nice fish. You could add some tetras or corys, a pleco, and have a nice little south American themed tank going.
