ok jpappy i have to admit it you were right buddy the brichardi are out of control i have two sets with a third set of fry in the making from them and they have invaded the 120gal they are expanding their range so now i am going to catch the fry and get rid of the all the brichardi except one and that should decrease the aggression well until the next set of something decides to spawn aye i have the calvus and others hiding right now and i dont want them to get killed due to stress, i now have one transcript and the mustax in the 120gal now i also put in two gold comps, later..
 
I agree with Jpappy... don't do Brichardi... Chalinichromis yes, Neolamprologus... no. I won't try N. brichardi in a community again. I've heard alot of talk about Convicts being profilic... I'll take a Brichardi pair any day in a head to head spawn-off.
 
yeah i knew better but i have had them for a long time with the fronts and all worked well but now since everything is so small the brichardi's have turned into terrors
 
I'm down to 1 female in the main tank with the remaining fry from the last 3 spawns. The older fry ( 1/2 " ) have taken up the defense torch and still won't allow any fish on that side. I had 3 spawns in one month!
 
hey jpappy you want some brichardi hehehe, so tomorrow i am getting rid of them i may keep a small female but more than likely will get rid of them all i will try to catch the babies and keep them in a small 5gal setup i have standing by and that housed a small catfish i will raise the fry to juvies and do some BAP at my fish club and get rid of the rest or just let the lelupis eat the babies, heheehe..

Definitely better suited to a species only tank, and it's still amazing how quickly they fill that up. I'm going to finish the Brichardi purge in the community tank and won't consider them again for that purpose. I couldn't imagine trying to pull these guys out of a 120. I have literally 300 or so of these fish after a few months.

Yeah we have some in the store with some tropheus and small fronts and they just push everyone else around. Not even breeding...
 
honestly they were fine with the fronts well the fronts didn't back down from them they would push back on the brichardi and i guess they figured the fronts weren't going away so everything was a nip here and there type situation even with fry present, but once i took out the fronts it was like a whole new set of brichardi's aye they began to chase down loose fish and grab ahold of them and wouldnt let go i had to actually go up and smack the tank with my palm to get one of the brichardi to let go of a calvus snout i was like wow dude let him go so they are history now and the cool part is that they were very close to full grown a local chain store hooked me up on some credit instead of them giving me money back which they would have if i wanted but they let me order off their list out of florida so i am getting 4 C. afra jalo reef for another setup and i am getting 6 Julidochromis dickfieldi for the trade man i got the hook up fo sure and i dont have access to dickfieldi around here so thats sweet, but all has been re-arranged so far and i still need to pop some photos i will do those tonight,
