Scat !!

suby7272-did you get the fish (impulse buy) then ask the questions? If so then I agree with oscar in that you are paying for it now. As I said in my first post, these are Brackish fish and do not do well at all in freshwater. They are not a freshwater fish. So either you need to set up a new tank just for them or you need to return them. REPEAT- Scats start in BRACKISH and REQUIRE SALTWATER as adults so if you can't provide this you should return them. Scats need a salinity of at least 1.008. Otherwise they will get lymphosystis(sp) which is a common problem with them. What is your water quality? Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, pH? Anyway, hope this helps.
Thanks MonoSebaelover
These scats are too dear to give away :(
Please tell me how do I make a Brackish setup. I know nothing about it.

Sometimes we have to do whats right for the animal not whats right by us. I have had to make many heartbreaking decisions in my day about letting fish go to better places. It may be hard but it is worth it to do what is right by the fish. I think this may be a case, but for the heck of it I can tell you how to set one up. For the first year, you will need a bare minimum of a 75 gallon tank. You will need to purchase at least one more otherwise they will establish a dominant/submissive role and the dominant has a good chance of killing the submissive. You will need a form of crushed coral as the substrate (can be aragonite, sand, or cc). You will need marine salt (Instant Ocean) and a hydrometer to test the salt level. You will need to maintain a level of salt at least 1.008. In my area, adding 1 cup of salt per 10g will give 1.003-1.005 (I can't remember which). Anyway, this is very basic info. You should do a search in this forum on how to set one up. You will get lots of results. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info MonoSebaelover !!
Cant afford a 75g - atleast for now. Looks like I will have to give away my Scats soon

Thanks once again

No problem, thats what I'm here for! It is very commendable for you to decide that. Trust me I know it is heart breaking, but I personally would much rather know that my fish is happier somewhere else rather than unhappy with me. I had to give away my beloved Queen Triggers ~1yr ago, hardest decision I ever had to make because I had them for 1 year and bought them as 1" juvies and they grew to almost 7 inch monsters and were personality plus. They still live on in the pictures I have and hope wherever they are they are happy! Anyway, good luck!

Considering I wouldn't go with anything smaller than a 200 gallon after keeping these guys that's a good decision.
