My goal is to have two large, or at least decent sized schools of zebra danios and white clouds.
What would be a good number for 2 large schools that could fit into a 55 gallon?
How many other kuhlis could be added too?

I also needed to ask about q-tank setup. I realized that I already have a ten-15 hexagn tall tank, but it has been filled with decoraive sand and shells in my bathroom closet for a long time. How should I clean it before use?

empty the stuff into a trash bag if you dont want it and use a hose and spray it down... thats what I do, I may be wrong. I'd say a school of rougly 15 for both. and around 5 kuhli loaches you should also add some hatchets for the top

I've always just hosed them down really really good there has been a few times that I have used windex and than washed them down real well. I do not feel that would be to over stocked you may wa nt to wait on a few more opinions but none of those fish create that large of a bio-load (waste)

I was going to suggest 15-17 fish per group. The small size of the fish, they will produce tiny amounts of waste etc compared to larger fish. You could get one school first see how your tank pans out then add the 2nd later.

I think you could probably go 15 zebras and 20 white clouds if you wanted to. They are small fish and would do fine in a 55.

As far as the q tank, I think all you need to do is rinse it out a few times and you will be fine. As long as there were not any chemicals in the tank you shouldnt need bleach. There shouldnt be any chems in the decorative sand or shells.
