schooling colorful non-fin-nipping fish recommendations?

aww.. i was looking into some cardinals. do you think that they will really get eaten by my angel when my angel gets bigger?

I would agree with the cardinal tetras. They are a lot of fun and have wonderful color. Black neon's are pretty cool too, but not as colorful.

I would say rainbow fish (praecox), but mine have been nippy at times, and wouldn't suggest you go out and get them, since you have already had trouble.

I noticed your avatar is a Rummy Nose - do you think those would work for this situation?

the cardinal tetras are similar in size to black neons. I find my angels (who eat pretty much anything they can fit in their mouths) leave them alone.
they did eat the neons..but leave bigger tetras alone.
key is to get the largest cardinals you can find and raise them with the angel.

with angels..there is no guarantee.

I'd say Rummies all the way! :) They school perfectly and are completely peaceful until dinner time when they dart one at a time to the surface.

RUMMIES!
I have 8 in my 55g with my angels, they are always in a tight group, I have never seen they nip or chase anything, most peaceful fish I've owned.

IME cardinals don't school quite as tightly as rummies.

i agree with the rummy nose suggestion. i have 7 and they're really tight schoolers. they seem to hang out in the lower levels of the tank though but they're not nippy at all...very peaceful. i personally wouldn't suggest the black phantoms because whenever the light is on they lose all their color and become pretty much see through. they seem to like low light better. they don't really school but aren't usually too far from each other and they're definelty not nippy. they are nice though when they flare out their fins i have to say.

i have tiger barbs, and even though they are considered, fin nippers i have found that they don't bother any of the other fish when i keep them in big groups. i keep them in a group of about 10 though, so they generally don't nip.
