and perhaps if people would have said user name not un I would not have miscontrued it as being a remark aimed at me

But petluvr using youtube as a means to freely host a documentary for public disclosure so that it can be as wide spread as possible, with the hope that it goes viral is not a reason for it to be discounted.

If you wish I could very well speak with some of the Prof's about this as my restaurant is located on a university campus. I am totally positive that some of them would not disount it simply for the reason that it is hosted on youtube, especially since the makers of the documentary have endorsed it as one of the ways in which they have chosen to disseminate the message they are trying to get across.

I also have to greatly disagree with you the matter even further, especially when you consider some of the material that Harvard has chosen to allow to be placed on Youtube amongst other institutions of higher learning.

Heck, some of the Prof's I have spoken with as they come to my counter have made mention of how they are increasinglly doing away with books and using electronic media and format's as the means for their sessions. It would also depend which class/prof you are speaking about. For certain some would hold fast to old school ways whereas others who are more progressive recognize the value of things like youtube and the like and freely use it. So far as I have understood from some of them, so long as proper acknowledgement is given it is admittable.

I will leave off with those 2 for but examples of how you just might be wrong with your thought process that using youtube would be discounted.

I don't think anyone will argue that APA is the style in which almost every scientific piece of information is written in, and this is taken directly from the APA's website concerning using sources such as wiki's.
Please note that the APA Style Guide to Electronic References warns writers that wikis (like Wikipedia, for example) are collaborative projects that cannot guarantee the verifiability or expertise of their entries.

I would agree about wiki as it is a site that saddly allows anyone to modify, which for the most part can be non verifiable. Though there is a huge difference between that and things like the youtube vid's I have posted.

Wow seriously? How many times does it need to be said, and in how many ways? It's not the fact that it's ON youtube that causes people to reject it. It's the fact that the "information" contained within the links is otherwise unverifiable. Seems like it'd be an easy enough point to grasp.

When did petluvr host a documentary? I missed that. Also, is that a sentence?

Again, they are not automatically discounted because they are hosted on youtube, they are discounted because they don't stand up to scientific rigor. No respectable professor will accept a youtube video as a valid source without another source to verify the information.

I work in a school setting where all of the classes are delivered online. We in fact use youtube videos at times. However each one is screened for content, and only content that can be verified through legitimate primary sources is used.

He's won at a mafia game?

Not UDing = victory!

Science proved it.

Wait, I've won at mafia? :omg:

lol, I consider you surviving past day 2 a complete victory :D

Yup telling a 45 year old man with 8 kids that he is 14 is brilliant. More like pathetic!

Truly, little minded people resort to slagging other people with personal insult. Get a life.

The fact is some of you discount things simplly because they come in the form of a youtube link where the information is posted. Others of you discount things simply because you do not agree with the findings that people from those branches of the scientific community come up with that very much show motives that are not in the best interest of mankind.

It is exceptionally pathetic to see people discount what is presented to them without using due diligence and seeing as a (true sceptic would) whether or not there is merit to the opposing viewpoint presented.

Yup carry on with your childish way of slagging people you disagree with. Perhaps it is not I who needs to grow up chum.

Whether you like it or not the links I have posted show very much the truth and validity of what I am trying to share here. Yet, go ahead believe as you wish.

And for your information I have never nor will I ever play a mafia game.

The first response of most teens to that comment is to completely disregard the rest of the post and BS and rant a little at the poster. However, I am not most teens. I was talking about UN. Your name doesn't haven have a "u" or and "n" in it, so IDK how you could think I was talking to you... I was on your side there...

I don't and didn't discount U-Tube vids because they were U-tube vids. I discounted them because there is no way to prove them true. Get some reviewed papers or documents and show that the vid is true and I will trust it. U-Tube is an awesome site, I love it, but I wouldn't go there and instantly think that everything posted must be fact. I like proper confirmation before trusting something.

In summary, U-Tube is awesome and you need a massive chill pill. :chillpill:

Thread of the Year

Congratulations to all who made it happen!

chefjamesscott - do you see a "U" or an "N" in that? I don't. I can't see how UN could have referred to you in any manner or form. Now, quit being a baby and accept that you screwed up (can you tell I'm getting annoyed here?) I was trying to help you and you attacked me, and now you are refusing to admit you were wrong. Not cool.

When they smell worst :yuck:
