Hello All,

It's been SO long since I've posted. Anyway life in my tank is doing really well. Here's a quick run-down (I don't know all the technical terms so pardon me if my descriptions aren't typical)

75 gallon tank
2-3 inch sand bed
100 + lbs live rock
Snowflake Eel (about 1 1/2 ft. long)
Clownfish
Coral Banded Shrimp
many Reef hermits
Turbo Grazers
Bumble Bee Snail
Another beautiful snail (don't remember the name)
Electric Blue Legged Hermit
Red Hairy legged hermit
1 soft coral (not sure what kind, came on a piece of live rock)
two chocolate chip starfish
two power heads
Protein skimmer
canister filter
awesome lighting

PH 8.2
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
Salinity 1.021

A few questions; I really love the looks of the scorpoinfish and would love to get one, however they are cautioned with clownfish. Is that because it will eat it? My clownfish is about 2-3 inches long and 1 inch tall. It's good size.

Secondly, I've contemplated getting an anemone for my clowngish but am hesitant because I had one once and it was about the same size as my clownfish and he liked it so much he was always rubbing on it and the anemone could never establish itself so it got stressed and died. I'm also worried about whether or not the anemone would sting my eel. Any suggestions or advice?

And lastly, I just bought a Codium plant and my Red legged hermit crab has been nibbling on it. It also like to nibble on my starfish when they are grazing on the sand. I don't want to get rid of my hermit because he/she is so beautiful and cool to watch. It's rather big to so easy to locate in the tank, always moving about. I've moved him away from the plant whenever I catch he/she nibbling and I'm hoping it will get the hint since I just put the plant in there yesterday. Anyone else have trouble with large hermits eating or attacking things? I'm learning rather quickly that there will always be things that don't get along or are risky to keep together, it seems almost impossible to house what I really like without some chance of conflict. I don't want to decorate my tank only according to what gets along, that could be rather boring, in my opinion.

Anyway, thanks for listening and any feedback. Have a good weekend

Scorpionfish will eat anything that will fit in their mouths, which most often open wider than what you would think.
Anemones require mature tanks with stable water parameters and generally high output lighting.
Large hermit crabs are generally bad as they will kill fish and eat pretty much anything that they can get too.
I hope that this helps

I had suspected that my red legged hermit killed my banded serpent star and then after I got a haitian condy it went right after it. I also like him a lot though so started another tank for him which has become the aggresive tank. I f you can't play nice with others, in you go.

Hi there...just wanted to ask how you like the bumble bee snail...I've been thinking about adding one to my tank once it is more settled.

The bumble bee snail is great, I never see it because it buries itself in the sand bed eating whatever is in it. But I've read it airates the sand and it does eat the crap that gets buried in the sand. When it does surface (it did yesterday) it's really cool to watch, a fast mover, and it's fun to watch it dive into the sand :)

Thanks...you sealed the deal for me. I'll just let the tank get established enough to be sure there is enough food to go around. Thank again.
