I have some scummy green stuff that is collecting on my live plants, and it's collecting around the water line. It is also making my water a little cloudy. I'm guessing it's algea, but not sure. What is it and how do I get rid of it? You can see through it, it's almost like clouds of green stuff on my plants. I have live plants with 4 watts per gallon of light, DIY CO2, and my plants are growing like mad!

This is the perfect environment for algaes. Buy some algae eating fish or snails.

Or to quickly remove green water algae, use algae fix. I know it works, been using it for years.

Says it's safe for plants. Buy the pond size, it's a better value than the "Aquarium size" packaging.

Whats your Ph, Kh, phosphates and nitrates. The problem could lie with one of these.

or ur DIY co2 is not cutting it...
if you post ur ph and kh.. people here will be able to help u ..

My water tests fine, Co2 is working fine, I guess it's just algea, just wondering best way to deal with it

If you dont tell us the numbers we cant tell you the best way to get rid of it. It's like going to a doctor and saying im sick give me some medicine, he cant give anything just because you are sick so the doctor will ask what your symptoms are , you tell him he gives you the medicine.Btw I am not saying we are like doctors ,I am just giving an example. :o

CO2 is 15 pmm, PH is 7.0, Nitrates is 5, Nitrites are 0. As I said, my water is fine, I already checked all this. Now, if it is algea whats the best way to keep it under control?
