sea clone 100

im handy to make something work, but at home i dont like doing it(my work i do it all the time it gets old)i think i will just try to buy a new better skimmer after i move everything to my 75gallon

my buddy has one in his 20g long sump on his 55g sw and it works really well..i guess some are better than others..i dunno tho..i got one for my 10gal sump for my 29g sw..havent got everything set up yet..so i can't say for sure how well they work

well i switched from a 38gallon to a 75gallon a little over 3 weeks ago,now the seaclone really sucks,i am looking now to buy a new skimmer, either an Octopus Dual Hang-on Skimmer w Filter,Coralife Super Skimmer, AquaC Remora,or AQUAMEDIC TURBOFLOTER MULTI W/GERMAN PUMP,anyone care to comment on any of these skimmers please feel free to guide me in the right direction,PLEASE,thanks all

Oh one more thing, for people crossing over to SW as i have done,if you want to waste 80dollars on a paper weight please feel free to buy a seaclone, real waste of money, but thats just my opinion

yea i have that link already, thanks for the input though

But, have you tried the modifications? Kind of hard to give an objective opinion on something you have little or no knowledge of first hand. Just saying you think it's a costly paperweight doesn't make it so.

why should i have to modify it? (i know what you are saying) but when u buy a product brand new you should not have to make modifications to it.how also do i not have first hand knowledge of using it? if i did not own one i would not talk about it.im not getting into anything with you,i just dont think i should have to do any mods to the seaclone,i do enough modifications to things at work,i dont like doing it when i am at home, anyway i did say it was only my opinion,oh and for a direct answer,no i have not tried any of the mods,as soon as i get home(i work on a boat) it is going in the trash(except i will just keep the ph)

Well, it's kind of like this... Back in 1970, a friend of mine and I went out bought BRAND NEW muscle cars, he bought a 440 Cuda and I bought a 426 cid Hemi Challenger. The first time we really romped on them, the motor mounts couldn't take the torque and they twisted out. We had to modify BRAND NEW CARS, by buying new motor mounts and longer bolts so we could put a length of chain between the motor and the frame. We should not have had to make the modifications but if we wanted to take the full potential of the power that was supplied under the hood, we did.

I've got a brand new sea Clone sitting here in the box and since I did find the modification recommendations, I'll take and apply the modifications and see what happens. Nope, I didn't mean to come across as rough but you know how the internet is. :) I'm just saying that if a few modifications will make a cheap product perform as good and the expensive ones, why not try it before you trash it. By the way, put it on Craigslist, someone will buy it.

yea i umdedrstand and some things are worth a mod,as u mod cars i mod out pc's,but my pc is 3000dollars so no i will not throw it away, but i get your points, but i want a skimmer that will perform better that the sea clone, anyway thanks for the input, now could you please comment on my other question and tell me which skimmer i listed would be worth my money? thanks

I think you'll get a lot of different opinions since it seems that everyone's choice is the best. :) I'll let others with more experience chime in here. I just know the a high price tag doesn't always make for the best product.
