sea monkeys in tank gravel?

Hydra is right, snails are actually really good at keeping the tank clean. Some people don't want them because they don't "look good" but if the look doesn't bother you then snails are great janitors of an aquarium.

anyone notice the date of this thread??(07/07)

As much as I would like to think that what you have in your gravel is sea-monkeys = brine shrimp, they are marine organisms & while they WILL live for awhile in freshwater, I highly doubt that what you have are sea-monkeys.

And I don't thik that what you have is good.

I've noticed that quite a few posts on this board indicate that people don't read the thread before hitting reply. So it's not surprising that they don't notice when a topic is more than a year old.

I wonder why people go back that far and bump them. It's one thing to read archives, but, to reply to a thread that is that old (or older) as if it were a current thread? Meh.

well when I replied to it it was at the top and bumped which is why I replied. I thought it was current, being at the top of the list. I wouldn't go back in the archives and reply to those. I am not that dumb but pretty blind missing the date on this one. lol.

Hah! I just saw the preview of what's in this post, and I thought, boy, does that story sound familiar. Then I clicked on the thread, and yeah, it's familiar, because it's me! :grinyes:
This was great to re-read--it's my FIRST thread. Let me assure everyone that things have changed a lot since I first joined AC. I have test kits, planted tanks, a quarantine tank, a good water change schedule... oh, and MTS.

hydraloveingman, don't worry, I don't kill the snails. And, danyal, yes, they are scuds. I still see a few in that old 10 gallon (which now houses 4 platies), but their populations went way down after I learned how to do water changes.

(And, for anyone checking out my sig--don't worry--those clown loaches are going to a 180 gallon tank in a few weeks, as soon as their new owner sets it up. One other thing I've learned since joining AC is what gets you flamed :evil_lol:)
