Anyone have experience/an opinion on the Seachem Ammonia Alert meters? They're the little pieces of plastic you stick to the side of your tank and it supposedly accurately tells you your ammonia levels via color changes (supposedly changes small as .05mg/L are detected). This sounds a little weird. Kind of like a mood ring for your aquarium.

By the bye, if this thing is credible, I would be looking at it as a supplement to regular testing with a quality test kit (I use AP).

Just to prevent any lectures about the importance of regular testing.

The ammonia alert card does work as advertised. It only detects the toxic NH3 form of ammonia so it is not a supplement for regular testing. I use it in my tanks to warn me if I am having biofilter problems in between testing. Yes it does detect very small changes. The yellow dot will turn greenish in very very low ammonia levels.
