when you said cut 1 1/2 on collection tube are you talking about the tube inside in cup and 3 inches off the thin tube inside??? if you could, could i see a picture once i see if i will know whats up. thanks for yor help!!!!!

Should have bought an 'AquaC Remora Pro', to begin with, was what I though when I wasted my money on a Seaclone.
It's a much better investment for a HOB skimmer and never needs adjusting or modding to make it work like it should to begin with. Just my 2 cents.

Next time i take it apart to clean it i'll take pics and PM them to you ....probably this weekend sometime. I got my seaclone for free from my dad ...so the MODs(with the exception of the mesh and the brass air valve) were free also so WTH would i buy a Remora Pro? my modded seaclone work the same if not better then one and the best part was IT WAS FREE 
And the noise was reduced by the brass air valve, but there is still the sound ....you can't fully get rid of the sucking sound with that type of venturi setup.
