hi, anyone knows if any eheim canisters use the same sealing o-ring as the 2026/2028? strange that it's not stocked at the big-3 online sites, DrF&S, TPP, and BA's. my local shop charges almost $30 for it. yikes.

thx.

yeah i could search google, but i got other stuff i want to order from one of the usual 3, so was just trying to get everything with 1 order and only have to pay once for shipping.

actually, that site lists that all these filters use the same o-ring (logic derived from the same part number).

2226 PART # 7343150
2227 PART # 7343150
2228 PART # 7343150
2229 PART # 7343150
2026 PART # 7343150
2126 PART # 7343150
2028 PART # 7343150
2128 PART # 7343150

but here's the kicker... each of these prices are different per filter. is that marketing scam or what? this is useful info, nonetheless. thanks for helping out.

*cough* Filstar *cough

Sorry, couldn't resist ;)

That kind of s7!t ticks me off! Part #xxxxxx should cost $x.xx PERIOD!

I'd buy the cheapest one, then if it doesn't work (how couldn't it? Its the same part!) fire off a note to Eheim saying part#xxxxx doesn't fit.

*cough* got a filstar, too *cough* :)

beviking, totally agree... having to pay more for the same part just for a higher class filter is completely BS. but eheim is not alone. you get an oil change at an audi dealer vs. the same oil change at a volkswagon dealer and you will end up with an emptier pocket from the audio dealer. that's just how it is. although you can argue about paying for better service, but i don't see any eheim "pro" technician coming to my house to replace that o-ring. lol.

i ended up ordering the 2226 o-ring for my 2028. will see how it goes. i'm not worrying because i just know it WILL fit.

I just looked on the Eheim web site, and it looks like there are two different O-rings for the whole line of 'square' canisters. The smaller models (e.g., 2222 and 2224) use an O-ring (#7343168) that costs about $15, while the larger canisters have an O-ring (#7343150) that costs about $25. I don't see what's so sinister about that... It doesn't seem beyond reason to me that larger canisters might have a different O-ring...

this has nothing to do with 2222 or 2224 models, nor with the smaller o-ring. this site is charging different prices for the same item part, depending on which "larger" (as you have described it) filter it's going onto.

If the part has the same # (meaning it's the same part) and is used on different filters but priced differently for each filter, that's bull! That's capitalism, embolism, cataclysm whatever "-ism" and people will still pay, but it's still bull! The consumer is free to patronize a different vendor of course or research and "stick it to the man!". :D

Well how did it go ?

I bought a 2028 just recently from the site and it had the has the same problem..
I need to purchase the part and waiting for the verdict..

BTW.. BAs sells them for $35 for the 2028 part.
