I have some blue botias that are probably 5+ inches. I would say there are at least 5 in there, but, as I rarely see them, I really couldn't tell you an exact number. I have a gigantic session of musical tanks coming up for all my fish, and am deciding on who I am going to put where. In the process I trying to decide if I want to sell these guys or if a different environment might bring them out more.

Are they generally this shy? When they were smaller, I remember them being more active. However, the tank is crowded (hence the massive tank upgrades in progress) with a bunch a typically crazy clown loaches and a ton of other fish, many of which are bottom dwellers.

If I do sell them, I wouldn't even know what to ask. I bought these guys probably 2 years ago. I cant remember what I paid. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance guys. :)

(I posted this on MFK as well, but I think there are more loach people over here.)

Why sell them when you can just give them to me for free?

Kidding of course- and I don't have room for them anyway. Nice find- I've never actually seen them for sale anywhere... only seen them online- you can't get rid of a hard to find-fish.

Perhaps they need more company to get over the shyness- or perhaps there are not enough hiding places- loaches will hide if they don't feel like they can make a quick dash for cover if they need to in a hurry.

Not knowing about that species- are they a more nocturnal type?

They are a more nocturnal species, but a lot of the species in my tank are. There are a loads of hiding spots, but, as said before, its crowded in there and they might all be taken. So, that could be a problem.

Yup, these are nocturnal. They tend to shy away quickly when I switch the lights on. Wet Whiskers, if you could do a tank setup with just moonlights, I am sure they will become much more active in that kind of setup. Bright lighting is glaring and intimidating for them.

I do keep moon lights on this tank as about 50% of the species are nocturnal. I joke that I have one tank during the day and one at night. I still don't see these guys very much. Thats partly why I wonder if there is something that is bothering them.

If you decide to sell them, send me pics...might be interested...
