"SELL THOSE FISH!" *true short story*

I think that most people don't bother to bring the fish back to the store. I never have done it. I always forget and just dispose of them. Truthfully, Ive only had 4 fish die within the guarantee period and they were all 4 panda cories and all 4 from petsmart.
 
I also brought dead panda cories back to Petsmart. They have a 14 days guarantee, no questions asked. To tell the truth, I wouldn't have bought those pandas without guarantee, as there were already dead ones in the tank.
 
I've taken lots of fish back. When I first started out (and didnt know a whole lot) I had to take advantage of that alot :eek: Heck even if I had a fish die a month or two later I'd just buy a new one so I had a reciept and take the old one back. I suppose that would be fraud though, and I dont do it anymore, but several years ago when I first got into the hobby I was unemployed and a little low on cash.
 
I've taken fish back too, problem is, if I get six fish and four of them die, I don't really want to replace them w/ four more sick or weak fish from the same batch. I am having a terrible time /w some angels I bought a couple weeks ago and haven't bothered to take them back, I know the ones in the fish store aren't healthy.

FWIW I don't think most starting wage employees really care how many fish they sell.
 
i know when i worked at petsmart i was told to do the same thing a couple of times. it all depended on how the department was doing that week on their sales. if they were above where they should be it didnt matter, if they were below, it was sell whatever to whoever. of course i always looked at the manager like it was no problem to just sell like that, but i never did, and eventually got in trouble for it.

and as for bringing dead fish back, i think in an average 5 hour shift working there, i would have about 10 fish returns. AVERAGE.
 
I think the majority blame it on bad fish from the store and end up not doing it, just go to another store.

Might be an interesting poll/thread if it could be worded right.
 
i've done what you did many a time... almost always in fact. I just can't sit by and not say anything. I HAVE to rant like neo-nazi everytime I enter a wal-mart or I might go looney.... surprisingly, most people heed my advice. I have about an 80% success rate.
