Its about 5months old and i bough it for 180(CDN) there is nothing wrong with it i would just rather have a RENA XP3.

it currently has the Ehfisubtrat, Ehfimech one coarse filter pad, 3 fine, and a nitrate ablsorber aswell as some carbon, its rated at 264 GPH for a 160gallon tank.

it is comming out of a tank that had a hard time cycleing, its not the filters fault i screwed up and swapped out all my graval with no thought as to the bacteria collonies and now there are about 100 fish in the tank, i added this filkter to help out.

it is very versital and you can put just about anything in any order into it.

make me an offer(in canadian please) or if you have a rena xp3/4 you are not happy with i can do a straight swap with or without media it dosnt matter to me.

here are two pic with the 2217 in its current home with a common roll of packing tape(for scale), I also have the box still...

well the deal fell through, any one else? :)

I forgot to mention that in selling it for $130USD and shipping is $30 roughly, i live in mississauga ontario canada, l5b4g4, if you would like to calculate the rate to you house, take into account that its about 15lb(5 without media), 14"X6"X5" ..., also i think i have some extra pads left if i do I'll throw hem in.

Apologies for pirating your thread but have been curious about my question for a while:)

I've an 'old school' 2217 and don't quite have my media so nicely seperated like you do. At a store, I saw a 2217 recently and noticed (just like your picture) how nicely the media 'stacks' and I asked if there Eheim now sells containers for the 2217, similar to the Pro II and II (that have baskets).

I'd hate to think you just start stacking media -especailly the rocks and ceramics which I image you have to pour into the unit then carefully have to hand-pull back out of the unit...

Thanks!

those spacers that you see in his pic are not rally spacers but, the filter floss.

there is a spacer on the tpo and botom, then the veramic stuff goes on top then the cource foam then the sub. then carbon/fhosphate/whatever remoners then filter floss(i use 3 pads not two), its easy to clean, all i do is toss the filter floss, the carbon and phosfate removers are in socks(the ones you get from your lfs) get a bown, dump the sub. then remove the foam pad, dump the ceramis rings rise it all out and in a straner rince the balls and rings through with cured water.

this whole prosedure takes me about 10-15 min(every 4-6 months). and no there are no baskets sold for this unit, they dont belive in baskets or something, besides they take up space inside the filter.

I often thought about making something to keep the media in like a acrylic ring with a oring around it crapload or holes drilled into it for water flow, but thiis war works well too.
