Had them for about a week. The one you can see the colors is the male, the female rarely moves from her fortress of solitude inside the java moss clump. I'll coax her out later if it's not clear enough from the male. Somewhat concerned they may be a hybrid of some kind.

EDIT: Finally got a fairly good one of the male:

Tank is on the floor about 3 feet from the side of my bed, so taking pictures is difficult at best. The last one is with flash, so obviously he's not quite that shiny or well defined normally.
I'll keep trying with the female but she is difficult. They look pretty similar.

The one you are calling a male, is a female....

They look like regular convicts to me....

Here are my convicts for comparison.

Male on the left, Female on the right.

looks like some kind of hybrid, definitely a cool looking little monstrosity tho!

Could be a hybrid. Convicts & Red Points breed together easily, and the offspring are commonly sold in stores as Red Points. If you're lucky they'll call them red point convicts so you know to avoid them. Many stores will even tell you that actual red points are a kind of convict, because they don't know any better.

I can't say one way or the other for sure, I'm actually wondering about my red points as well, but they're still very small.
