this is what we do for wipees...

if you know someone who's baby has a sensitive bottom, please pass this along. i had a bear of a time schlepping through bad and ridiculous information to figure this out while my sons skin was wiping right off his bottom. it was a total nightmare that i wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. sad part is it's all but impossible to find such information and when you do, there's so many contradicting opinions it's ridiculous. hopefully this helps some parents cut to the chase, saves some stress and makes for happier babies out there. i know figuring this out was a god sent for us.

Awww, that's awesome Dun!!! LOL, you have a deep voice, now when I read your posts I'm gonna hear it :P

I've made my wipes also, not because of a sensitive bottom but because I hate all the "hidden" chemicals they put in everything. I use a mix of different products from a company I work(ed) with, I have been looking into other companies that use more natural ingredients instead of chemicals in their product right now, I was wondering if you have heard of a company called "7th generation" or any of the ones listed here they all are companies that use natural ingredient and may be a choice for you and your family. I am actually getting ready to switch over to 7th generation myself, not because I don't like the products I have because they are all WONDERFUL and I would recommend and stand behind them to anyone, but I need a change in my life and in order to that I can't just order what I want from there...ok I'm gonna shut up now before I derail my entire reason for posting LOL!!:D

Nice. Make sure that someday your kid sees this vid and understands all of the loving care you put into wiping his rear end...That way when you're really old, he can return the favor.

LG...
lol, it's not always that deep. i've always thought it sounded downright geeky and nasal on phone recordings.

i'm going to have to agree about the hidden chemicals. my first two weren't exactly "sensitive" that i knew of, but i have to say this guy going from his skin wiping right off to never having a diaper rash speaks volumes. with my daughter, if her diaper wasn't changed immediately she'd be raw in no time and we'd be fighting to straighten it out. embarrassing to say the least should someone witness a diaper changing. i felt like a neglectful parent perpetually. god forbid we didn't dry her bottom before putting a diaper on. what a mess! with this guy now, if the wipes are too wet, no worries... the diaper will soak it up... and we've had no need for diaper rash cream, baby powder or anything... at all! what a god sent!!!

another thing i considered was cloth diapers and wipes. i looked at that all throughout searching for the "dry wipes". there were a few downsides that turned me away, though...
1) tea tree oil - i react very negatively to this and it seems to be in everyone's recipe for cloth wipes.
2) mineral oil - also in everyone's recipes - although it's edible, i see no reason why oil should always be wiped on a babys bottom... the idea of a wipe is to get them cleaned, not oiled up, IMO
3) carrying a spray or squirt bottle everywhere to wet your wipes - seems counter productive in some situations.
4) carrying a cloth covered in baby droppings everywhere until we get home isn't appealing by any means
5) if i were to pre-moisten cloth wipes i might have to re-make them twice a day to keep up with demand - screw that, lol
6) i'm really not interested in doing the extra laundry associated with "the cloth". not sure once that's all said and done that there's much savings monetarily or environmentally, either.
7) i think there's maybe something i'm forgetting...

i have come across a couple of those brands IIRC, but i'm very leery of products that use "natural ingredients" until i know what it is that's the difference. i'm reminded of "free range" cattle for example. what is it that makes it "natural ingredients"? i know i pay more for them, but am i getting more/safer from them? it's not always the case and we needed something better than cotton balls desperately by the time i found the right disposable washcloths. i'm glad you posted about them here, though in case someone happens across this in the future. i've noticed you're pretty aware when it comes to the safety of products, so i really appreciate your input.

Mad...
will do sir, will do. you can bank on it.

I've found that making a diaper rash cream of diaper rash cream of choice, maalox, and A&D works wonders. Rash cream heals, maalox reduces acid and A&D creates a moisture barrier.

Glad you found something that works!

That is one of the magic butt cream recipes. Some recipes add antifungals or antibiotics too.
