Thank you, IceH20. Yes, I waited longer than most 7 weeks on a fishless cycle to do my tank right. Its been running for almost 10 months and I have successfully kept most of the fish alive. (I have lost 4 due to ich - my first experience with it) and one recent loss to the nitrites.

Useless comments do noone any good and certainly won't elicit responses when you need help.
Thanks all - any ideas aside from the frequent water changes I am doing as to what is causing this...love to know! I may be an emotional woman towards my fish, but I want to keep them from any harm and have devoted more than 4-5 hrs a day on them.
