Serious Critics Needed Please (Photo)

Have been trying to rescape my tank for several months now but I still feel that it is not right somehow...hopefully someone with honest opinions or suggestions could help!

PLEASE! tell me what that big brown leafy plant is! as for the tank, I think it needs more tall plants toward the left front corner, and the open space should be in the center.

well i like it, but the plants seem too concentrated in the middle. although it would make a good hiding place for fish, fry, shrimp, ADF's, w/e but i'd spread them out a bit more, can the fish even get inside of that mass?

Dorkfish: The big red/brown plant on the right is Lotus! I agree that this should be somewhat at the back. At the beginning it was small and cute but not it has got bigger! I am afraid to damage the root system if I move it!

mtiller: Thanks! As I only have very few small fish (Endlers, Corydora Habrosus and Boraras brigittae) they can swim freely in the 'bush' without problem.

I like the red of the lotus and the other plant...it offsets all the green, I don't like the "pile of plants" in the middle I'd like to see a little more open or grassy space, maybe some driftwood. You did a great job and if you had about a 200 gallon tank(I don't care what that is in litres) I think it would be near perfect...and the little pleco (hope you picked a small one) should be happy

i think the lotus is too big for the tank.
you should have some kind of theme in your tank tho, right nwo it looks as though you just planted whatever plants that looked cool.. like a plants in the LFS's tanks.
maybe orgnaize little bit. if youre going to use microsorium as your main plants, moss should be around the base of the microsorium and rotala or hygrophia can go behind as an accent.

Yes, exactly! I am new to planted tank, so I just bought whatever that looks good to me and plant them without planning... here is the results. Agree that the lotus is too big but had no idea when I bought it. Probably have to move it to a pond!

hehe i do that too except i dont have money to buy all the plants i liek..
right now im planning on doing hairgrass tank with rocks.
tring to make a wild un-mowed golf course look. ha i cant htink of the word.

I like that look too (just like your Alvatar pic)! The problem is my setup does not allow hair grass to grow because the lighting is too low for the size of my tank.

do you inject with CO2?
i think the tank lookes great, but needs the plants spread out a bit
