Setting up Malaysian Biotope(with pictures!)

Thats really cool. I look forward to seeing more and more photo's of these guys(and gal) as they finish settling in

Quick update; I haven't had time for water testing and such lately. Everyone is doing fine, but still hiding from me. Territories have not been established yet. They have all grown.

Somehow some blue leopard ramshorns got into the tank and grew to regular ramshorn size. I have no idea how. When I picked one up out of the tank I may have crushed its shell because it was so brittle.

Because of all the threads I made about how to quickly lower PH, I don't want to think that the gouramis are sitting in foul water.

Here you can see the drip acclimating water in and out of the tank. The drip acclimater going out is positioned like that because of the height needed to keep it dripping at roughly the same rate as the one going in; it never, ever gets in contact with anything besides the fish water going out of the tank!

This changes around 50% of the water each week, but I have to be there to monitor it. I'm sure with some ingenuity it could be set up as a more permanent system, esp if I was allowed to drill the cabinets.

Looking good. I just read an article on keeping Licorice Gouramis in an Aquarium Fish International magazine from September. The author was never successful in breeding, so there's your opening to publish something with them.
