All but two of my plants came in today! Hooray!! I'm still waiting on my Mayaca and a different grass for the left side. Also have to find some dwarf Amazon Sword. Here are a before and after!

It's a "dinky" 20H. I'm planning a school of marble hatchets, a school of otos, a school of tetras (debating neons or rummy noses, leaning toward the latter). And I'm trying to decide on my centerpiece fish. Ideas?

The plants I got today, btw, are from Aquariumplants.com, and I'm VERY happy with them!! Large bundles with very full stems. The Orisis is huge!! And the pot of microsword was beautiful with a ton to spread out. There are a couple plants right behind the Osiris sword that I pulled out of my SAE because they weren't right, and they don't fit here, either. Hmm.... guess that means I "need" another tank!!! :evil_lol::evil_lol::evil_lol:
 
What substrate are you using? Is that aqua soil? If so I would test for ammonia and nitrates before adding fish just to be on the safe side. I hear aqua soil takes a little longer to cycle through it's nutrients which maybe high enough to harm some fish.

But I'm just guessing sense you haven't answered my question yet...LOL

why are you using an air stone AND CO2?????
 
The sub's Eco-Complete. Just short of two bags. The tank itself, with the substrate, has been set up and cycling for a few weeks now, including using some dead shrimp for the bioload. I'll check it again in a few days, but earlier today it was at 0ppm ammonia, .25 ppm nitrites, and about 5.0 ppm nitrates (it was between the colors on my API test). CO2 is at 50 ppm, according to Red Sea's CO2 test.

The air is off now. I'll be going to no air during the day and only turn it on at night, using a timer. I'd read that plants need O2 at night for photosynthesis as much as they need the CO2 during the day. I had it on so I knew were the stone was while I was planting. ;-)

I've also got a new Current USA Satellite ballast on it. Sure made a difference from the single tube T8 that was on it!! And I like the lunar light at night. Super sharp!
 
You might not even need the airstone at night if you have enough water circulation.
