Setting up New Nano Tank

Cool. Thats what I was thinking, but I wasnt too sure as I read somewhere that a good level to get is 4-5ppm thats where my confusion was. I used some filter floss from my established tank too so I think that is helping if I'm right.

New parts should arrive tomorrow to get the filter system going nicely then its time to get everything in place and build my rock nicely :)

Im going to add two clowns, or two smaller size fish, and then loads of coral.

Should I leave adding the coral for a little bit after the fish and then add them one by one. Altogether would be ok (the coral after the fish) that is as coral doesnt have a large bioload if im correct?

Just to be clear you should wait until nitrates are zero but a couple of 50% water changes should handle that fairly quickly. Not saying you can't have any nitrates but its best to start on as clean of slate as possible. You can also use something like Chemipure Elite in your rear chambers once ammonia and nitrites are gone to scavenge nitrates. Its like carbon on steroids.

Correct, minimal impacts to bioload with corals but feeding them (if you do) will add another nutrient source. In general, inverts are more sensative to poor water quality but as long as your not buying SPS, you can add some softies or LPS once the cycle is over. I would not add a lot. Add a fish and an easy coral and just enjoy those for a while. Your LR will be crawling with life too that will keep you entertained. heck, I still see new stuff pop out of my rock that I have never seen before.

Yea sorry I was wittering on up top causing some confusion. Deff wait once all levels are zero. Dont want to be putting fish at risk.

Im a bit wary about my live rock. Travelled with it for 2 hours in the car, but I suppose it travels longer from supplier to LFS etc.

I've already got some coral to go into it from main tank, Ive got a finger leather, Discoma Mushies, sun polyps, zoa colonie and a toadstool leather. These should do well I think? If not I can keep them in main tank.

I would remove them. Yes, those corals would be a good to start with but they may need some time to adjust to different lighting.

I guess I didn't read or comprehend the part about you having an existing tank. If that one has been up and running and is established you should take a small piece or two of LR out of that tank and add it to your nano. Nothing better than mature rock to get a tank going. Plus you will add diversity to your population.

What size is your existing tank?

Its only 125 Litres, I thought I put that in my first post lol but dont think I did, must be another haha.

Ive put some filter floss from the tank into the nano too. Ill have a ratch in main tank and see if I can take some out without disrupting the corals too much, one toadstool is upset already, fell out is place other day and is having a huff now lol.

After seeing that, you don't need my help :). You got this.

What kind of lighting is on that tank?

LOL I need all the help I can get or I start to panic and do silly things lol. When I setup my first tank I got the cycling process wrong and got spikes for ages after so dont wanna do that again.

Its an Arcadia Light Unit, 4 tubes T5HO 24W, 2 Marine, 1 Day Light and 1 Actinic Light.

I dont think I have a pic of the tank as it is at the mo but I can easily post one.

Love to see some pics. Here's mine

Nothing special but I enjoy it.

Oh thats awesome. Love all the "caves" in it. What kind of filtering do you have, do you have a sump?

What size is your tank? I tried a metal halide on my tank but it has a centre brace so it cast some nasty shadows.

Just turned lights back on so waiting for corals to open up then going to post some pics
