Hello - new here. I kept Discus successfully for many years, but stopped about 10 years ago when I retired and moved south. Just decided to try again and purchased a 135 gal. tank to set up for show. I have a question for those that know. I never used live plants in my tanks in the past, but would like to set this one up as a planted tank. My question is regarding what type of gravel/sand/soil would make the best planting/growing medium, without a lot of maintenance problems. It appears that I will be fighting ph problems with the local water anyway, so I don't want to aggrevate it with something that will tend to raise it. Suggestions would be appreciated.
