Okay....I am planning on using a 5 1/2 gallon glass tank as my QT tank. I bought a hood with light, and will buy a small HOB filter. I am going to fishlessly cycle it. Then what??? Do I need to find a small fish or two to stay in it to keep the biological filter going? I guess I don't understand what to do. Or do I just keep it going with the amonia? How would you more experienced fishkeeper do it? I realized the need after bringing home a Farlowella for my 40 gallon and introducing ich to the entire tank.

The best way I have heard is to put a sponge filter over your intake in your main tank. when you have a need for the quarintine tank fill it up with decloriniated water if needed and move the sponge to the tank and power it with a air stone.

have a spare to put in the main tank when you move one to the quarintine.
insta-cycle when you need it.
