Setup For a 125 Gallon Reef

Can't think of stocking a saltwater tank like a freshwater community tank.

There is no community fish per se for saltwater, as ALL are territorial.

So besides having fish that are compatible with each other, you have to make sure each have their own territories. The best thing to do is have a list of fish you plan on keeping, and add the most gentile ones in first.

Just a recommendation. I would pick a higher rated GPH return pump. I currently have a 1,100GPH return pump on my 125G and I would like to upgrade in the future. I think the rest of your flow looks good for a starting point. You could always add one more powerhead, but I don't believe that will be a major concern. I would put the money towards other things for now.

I agree w/ FeatherDuster. I have a 120 g reef, and have a Blueline HD 70 pump. This is rated for 1750 gph, but probably puts out ~1200 ghp with the head pressure and line pressure. I have 3 additional powerheads, plus a Magdrive 7 as a return pump from my separate refugium.

If you're doing corals, shoot for 20 - 30x tank volume per hour for flow.
