severums and piranhas?

What will he do once they're full grown, freakishly fast or not? It's best to start off with a tank that doesn't have to be upgraded to begin with. Just my two cents.

I couldn't disagree more. I like starting small and working up with the fish as they grow. It makes it easier to treat and makes the tank more interesting.

I would also like to see a 12" red belly piranha and meet the person who has had it for that long.

Sounds expensive buying all those tanks and stands.

It really depends on the species. My small young black piranha grows incredibly slow and I had him in a 20 gallon until I sold him a year ago. On the flip side, red bellies grow quite fast.

I had 3 red bellys in a 25 gallon, when they hit about 4-5" one got picked on and died. But after that the 2 are doing great in the 25 gallon.
My friend had 2 red bellys that were 3 years old and were no bigger then 7 inches, they were that size for quite some time and also had them in a 25 gallon.

I guess it all depends I have a fish store near buy and they told me about the 10gallon per piranha, the person who sold me the fish has piranhas and said it's rare for them to grow over 8".

Seven inch fish in a 25 gallon? My god is that ever cruel.

the general rule is 20g per rbp but not all pirahnas. plus these fish are really nothing like you might think they are, they are usually very skittish and docile. if cared for properly they can reach 12" but usually smaller, once they hit about 6" their growth rate slows down alot. if ur gonna get some i would buy more than u plan on keeping because you will usually lose 1 or 2 to canniballism, but if u dont u can sell the extras or buy a bigger tank.
