I knew the word sex would work, is this female she and 'her' friend looked so in the store, but now they have coloured up im not sure. These are my first apistos though some would still count my rams. The male is definately a male 'cockatoo' but his harem have more colour than other females i have seen

can you post more pics of the possible female and of the male? that way we can compare and also take into consideration how your tank lights affect the picture color and if the fish is just faded out or not.

That's a male in the pics. By the way, rams are not apistos. They belong to the genus Microgeophagus.
