i just bought a group of 5 tiger barbs they are doing well and are schooling.
i want to breed them and im wondering what is the best way to sex them? also any tips on breeding them will help but i already have some idea of what to do

Males will have more red to them (nose, dorsal fin, ventral fin). Although, now I'm not sure if the females don't have red, while the males do.

According to this site: http://www.tropicalfishcentre.co.uk/tigerbarbs.htm, to breed them, you would need acidic water, a plant for them to spawn in (I guess java moss would be the best), marbles and keep the female and male separate from each other for 2 days. When they are reintroduced into the same tank, they should the following morning.

The females are usually get bigger than the males. A bigger gut for sure. The males have a red nose and red on their dorsal.

alrighty then thx for all the help!! ive put the females into another tank and in 2 days i will introduce the males ill keep up with updates! i got 2 fems 3 males

so i kinda decided not to breed my tiger barbs until they got a little more mature so i reinstated the females yesterday today i noticed little green shperes ALL OVER THE SAND in the tank. are these eggs? or just some wierd algae? there are literally HUNDREDS of them. so if anyone here has actualy bred tiger barbs tell me wat color the eggs are plz lol
