thanks Vivala but I doubt Ill make the trip soon enough! the weird thing is I have had the male who looks malnourished since end of march. I'll separate them out and see if that helps.
Do you notice the one with a concaved belly eating on a regular basis?
Male and female gold rams are easy to tell the diffrence of sex (during the right season) just like the blue rams are. Females have a bright pink belly when ready to spawn, just like female german blues do. Males (depending on age) Will have a larger spike on the front of the dorsal fin. Hope that helps...
Now about the sunken belly, if hes eating on a regular basis and it has been that way for months. It could be a few things, improper diet or internal parasites. Try switching up the food, if your feeding more veggie based good kick up the protien ammounts, if your feeding more meaty good then vice versa.
If that dosent work, it could be internal parasites soak his favroite frozen food in gel tek internal parasite medicne. Honestly i doubt it will work internals are the most difficult thing to treat period.
If you want more rams in your tank they operate well (tank size depending) at a ratio of 2 females to every one male. The won't end agression but it will help. I can order those fish for you pretty much any time you want as vivalavic said, that is if your down in the area. If your not I know a little saltwater shop on Olympia that has a tiny freshwater section, He could probably be convinced to order a few for you too.
