Sexing Red Oscars

Oscars are impossible to sex accurately without dissection, which of course interfere's with their ability to reproduce. The only real good way to get a pair is to get 6-8 juvies and watch for two to pair up. you may still end up with two females when you do this, but it works most of the time.

I'll second that, and the 55 gallon is going to be too small for the oscars when they reach adulthood. The width just isn't enough, they would probably need a minimum of a 75 gallon.
Thanks =) I know the 55g is to small for adult Oscars, I have been looking around for a 75g through the want adds / sales. My Babies are happy for now.They are only about 5 inches. When we bought them the Aquarium guy said the the 2 I bought have always been like mike and ike, so maybe they are a pair or just good buds! it doesnt matter to me, I was just curious.
