shaking head.not eating.rubbing...HELP!!

Hmmm....are you sure he is napping or is he laying on the bottom because there is something wrong with him?? I have 3 fish tanks and during the day when the lights are on none of my fish are "napping", they're always being active and swimming around, including my Malawi cichlid tank. Usually, if I see one of my fish laying on the gravel, that kinda puts up a red flag for me, like something is not normal. I could be wrong though, maybe Acaras do nap??

i just turned the lights on, he is definatly napping. during the day he is usually swimming around and i can never get a pic of him.

I've never had a fish that "naps" but I don't know. maybe yours actually is.

most of my fish do nap on the gravel. turning on the light in the morning before the sun comes up usually makes them all dash for cover though. parasite clear for internal and external sounds like the way to go. just make sure you dont get the kind that stains your silicone and other things in your tank.

in reference to this.

I am curious what is the temp the blue acara is in.
many SA cichlids can take quite a bit of heat
I keep my angels,Discus and rams at 82 minimum.

I fond they are more suseptible to health issues at temps below 80.

the tank temp is set at 24C (75F) because ive got a weather loach in there with him. I think this problem could have stemed from me feeding my acara earthworms from my garden

ok his just finished his medication period, but his still scratching and his still not eating proper and his still got black dots.....whats wrong with him??? please some one help!

you have the acara on the lower end of the temp spectrum. I find MY SA Cichlids do better in warmer water usually around 78-80..

what treatment did you use for it.?

generally earthworms are not a poor source of food..unless the earthworms have been exposed to chemicals(ferts , pesticides, herbicides)

I understand you have a Loach who likes the temp to be around 75degrees, but is there anyway u can put him n another tank till you nurse your Acara back to good health?..you really should turn up the tank to a higher temp(79-82)..but do it slowly!
