Would it be safe to use a permanent marker to blacken filter parts?

I'm thinking I could do this to eliminate a multiple day drying time...

I wouldn't as it will just wear off into the water over time! A risk I wouldn't take!

For the ones who say they wouldn't I am curious to know as to why they think it is more dangerous than Krylon Fusion spray paint....

But I will use the tried and true Krylon instead of Sharpie. Getting a 2nd set of filter pipes so I can keep my tank online and just swap in the new ones. Sucks because it's $13 per spray bar so I was hoping to pull them out, coat with Sharpie, and put back in, instead of needing to buy new and paint and dry.

I have used Sharpies on all sorts of things to only have it rub off after a short amount of time. Thus, my answer is heck no.

I'm not getting how solid black plastic is lightening up...It shouldn't need to be painted unless it was painted before and was some other color..
