I spoke too soon about not seeing any breeding behavior in my Stapps.....just this afternoon, after I posted that last comment....I noticed that one of the stapps had dug a bowl all around her shell...(this is the one I was quite sure was female)....she would dive into her shell and one of the others would come over and sit just outside the opening. I noticed him "posturing" as he sat there and I do believe they were spawning !
