After having a really difficult time getting started with shrimp and snails (so much so that I almost gave up), my invert life is going much better. (I learned a very important lesson - maturity of tank, not just being cycled, makes a HUGE difference with these little creatures).

So after letting my tank mature a bit more with a fish, lots of plants, and hardy snails (MTS and common ramshorns) I ordered some new Blue Pearl shrimp. They have now matured, I haven't lost any (woohoo and knock on wood) and several females have been saddled for about 2 weeks. I was beginning to give the boys a talking to about holding up there end of the reproductive job, when low and behold this morning I woke to a berried girl. I really hope she does well being a new mom. Any tips on keeping her happy??? Also, she is so loaded I have decided that shrimp (and mouth brooders although obviously different creatures) should get the award for best parent - imagine carrying around all of what they do for so long. The shrimp is basically juggling all those eggs (and I thought juggling twins was tricky :)). So wish us luck and hopefully in a month or so (right?) I should see some babies.

Thanks for reading and sharing my excitement.

Thanks - but she's really doing all the work. I was just so blown away when I saw her -- man I'm bubbling with excitement, I feel like a 5 y/o waiting for Santa Claus.

That is just wonderful! You have a very lovely shrimp there!

Thanks - it's mainly because of the support I got from you all here at AC that convinced me to keep trying. Thanks!!!
